Mercy and Compassion: For you and Through you

Exodus 33:19
19
And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

His 'name' is His 'authority'. Remember this.

The Lord of lords is the Son of God, who in the times of Moses was known as the Holy One of God. This Authority is the Word, the authority that is described to us, that describes us. By the Word all things came to be, so that this authority is within all things.

Gospel of Thomas Saying 77
Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained.
2
Split a piece of wood; I am there.
3
Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."

The Lord said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."
The Lord wanted Moses to understand that mercy and compassion are of Him. And if mercy and compassion are of Him, and we were created through Him, that mercy and compassion can also come through us. Also, that mercy shown by the Lord is given to whomever He chooses, and that compassion shown by the Lord is given to whomever He chooses.
Which brings the purpose in this letter. The Lord said, ``Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.' Did that mean that Esau was without? No! Esau was chosen to overcome himself, and by doing so, he became more. Esau, learned to be merciful, without mercy from the Lord. Esau, learned compassion without compassion from the Lord. So both mercy and compassion were shown in Esau's acts, not because he was shown them, but because they were in him to share. Esau would not have found mercy or compassion on himself without having love for his brother.
Jacob, who was deceitful, and selfish, was shown mercy by the Lord. This, because Jacob would not find mercy without the guilt of denying it in himself. Jacob, who was cruel, and calculating, was shown compassion by the Lord. This because Jacob would not find compassion without the guilt of denying it in himself. Jacob would not have been witness to mercy, if he was not witness to love coming through his brother.
This speaks of how we differ in gaining understanding as individuals. We either are shown mercy or compassion, or we learn to show mercy or compassion. The Lord chooses as He knows who we are, our conscience and our path. Love is the foundation of the name of the Lord.
There are those who the Lord hardens the hearts of. They are not shown mercy, nor compassion, and they do not find it in them because they are reliant only on their desires. The example is Pharaoh, who the Lord used in this way, knowing the Pharaoh would act as he did.

James 2:13
13
because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
-
The Authority of God is just. What that means is that it is complete, perfect, and can be relied upon. The Lord knows us better than we know ourselves. What he sets before us, is exactly what we need. The maturity of a believer is found in the believer understanding the present moment they are in, and thereby witnessing the lesson they are being provided. (And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence.)
I leave you with this

2 John 1:3
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, will be with us in truth and love.
-
If you carry the truth in faith, and seek to have love as the foundation of your acts, you will be able to discern what is in front of you in the present moment; allowing you to then act in a way that serves the Father's will through His Authority.
