Slaves to Righteousness

Romans 6:6,7
6
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—
7
because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
-
Yes, the bondage of sin is what we were under. Yes, when we died with Christ on the cross, our life was blended with his. Yes, because he defeated death, the power over death and the bondage of sin is what works in us.

There is sin still that each of us does. No, we are not bound by it. No, it will not rule us. No, we are not perfect, instead we are part of something that is perfect.

There are sins that we should leave at the foot of the cross, otherwise if we continue to do them, the sacrifice of atonement is being abused, and we are at risk of being turned over to death. Each one of us was found in sin. Each one of us represents a certain weakness that only Christ could be our strength to overcome. We know, each of us, what we overcame in Christ. This should be our victory in him, and honored.

The path of faith is one that keeps us from all other sins. Moment to moment, in each part of our day, we are renewing ourselves in Christ. We do this by keeping our hearts and minds and souls focussed on holy things. This is our love of the Father. We also renew ourselves in Christ by having others witness our faithfulness shown in our actions. This is our love of others.

The more reliant we are on our worldly existence, the greater our risk of falling away into sin. And we do. As inequity has increased over a few thousand years since Christ ascended, we exist in a time where the flesh is considered to be holy and the world is considered to be where freedom is sown. What is evil is considered good.

I encourage each of you to remember two things: fill your day with prayer for one another and thanks to the Father. In this; you keep yourself focussed on the unseen qualities of holiness. The second thing you should remember is, that the bondage of sin is broken, and all it can do is make you stumble. Have no guilt or regret, just shake it off, and return to your faithfulness. If what you do in sin, causes others to fall away, you should no longer do it. If you are in the act of sin and become aware of it, you should no longer do it. But do not let the judgement of others discourage you, we all grow at a pace we can handle without being overwhelmed.

Romans 6:18
18
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
-
We are slaves to righteousness. Our master only gives us as much as we can handle. Our service is that of love and renewal, as we are the hands and feet, minds and hearts of the living God. We are not perfect, but when we set ourselves aside, righteousness comes through us. This is how holiness manifests. This is forever. The will of God by His Holy Authority.
