Romans 8:31-40
More Than Conquerors
31
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
33
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
34
Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

----
A Conqueror is a person who gains something by force. In God's purpose, we are more than conquerors.
If God wanted life to conquer life, he would have willed his Son destroy like the flood did. But instead the focus became the spiritual war, the battle against wickedness in heavenly realms.
It was poor ministry, and the will of man, that used violence to conquer. And in the name of Jesus they deceived. Since the sacrificial lamb of God was hung and died on the cross, the old mediation of an eye for an eye has been replaced with a gospel of love.
More than conquerors means we are like the one we carry the Spirit of inside us. The Spirit of Truth was left to those who believe in the risen form of the Son of God. It is by his authority alone that we can approach the Father to do His will.
36
As it is written:
As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
We are not a weapon of justice, we are a beacon of loving sacrifice. We turn the other cheek, we clothe and feed our enemy, we deny our desires. We show that we honor the cost of our redemption with our acts.
We are more than conquerors because what we gain is done in a way that shows the Father's sacrifice to be righteous. Amen.
