Hebrews 11:13-14
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.
14
People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.

Hebrews 11:39-40
39
These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised,
40
since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Promises of God are kept. We are not to trust oaths made to us, nor, are we to swear oaths to God or other people. But promises made by the Father are to be considered completed when made. We should not trust the flesh, no. But we can certainly have confidence in the promise of eternal life through Christ Jesus our Savior.
Faith is not of the flesh. Faithfulness is actually a fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is what righteousness is founded upon, it is of God; holy. So all righteousness can be acknowledged as of Him, something we can give thanks for. Thanks for the faith, the confidence that comes through us, that is not of us.
Human beings make promises. We make oaths. We rely on one another and trust in one another creates bonds that develop what actions we take. This is not faithfulness, it is not holy, and in no way do these actions honor God through His Truth. The enemy has seen us develop, has watched us rely on one another, building relationships that seebus claim love as of us. But it is all meaningless, because if the Truth is not the basis of these relationships, the relationships honor the flesh, and the world; instead of the unseen qualities of the Holy Spirit.
Faith supplies us an opportunity to honor the Father through Christ. When we rely on faith, we are showing the Father that we recognize His Authority is upon us. Without trusting one another, but instead treating one another as we would have ourselves be treated, we find that holiness supplies all we require to fulfill God's purpose.
Today, we are surrounded by requirements of trust. Trust in our system of governance, trust in our economic system, trust in our employer to have our best interest in mind, trust in our spouses to stay true, trust in our church with our offerings, trust in our own instincts, trust in our emotional reactions, trust in our knowledge of good and evil. Today, like yesterday, honors the master of the world. Death drives our survivalist development, we constantly seek security and sustainability. Trust is the human replacement of faith.

Matthew 6:33
33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
---
Seeking firstly in loving confidence the holiness that the kingdom upon us supplies, is faithfulness the honors the Father through the Truth he provided us in His promise of Salvation.
We are imperfect. But if we are to become perfect, we must believe that holiness can and does act through us when we seek in our faith for a greatness to come through us which only love can provide. To be perfect is to have perfection come through you; moment to moment. This is bringing eternal authority into infinite possibility. Which means, honoring what is, instead of trying to describe what should be.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
