Justice. Our Lord is just. This letter is the explanation of what the justice of the Lord means for the living.

Acts 9:16
16
I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

Saul first heard and witnessed the Lord, on his way to arrest believers and bring them back to Jerusalem to be judged, jailed, punished, or killed. Saul was the hand of authority of those who remained under Law. When it was made known to Saul, whom the Lord was, and what the Lord directed him to do, Saul's vision was stripped of him.
His vision had been taken. He had to be led by the hand back to Damascus. Believing himself cursed, he fasted from food and drink for 3 days. But what is important to note is that our Lord is just. Why would he make Saul suffer in this way? Not as punishment without purpose. The purpose was to humble Saul. In one moment he was the hand of the authority, the next, he was blind and needing assistance. Saul was blinded because our Lord is just.

Deuteronomy 32:4
4
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Justice is described by the authority upon it. All human justice is based on incomplete knowledge of good and evil. But the justice that is born of eternal Truth is reliable, unquestionable, and full. Justice under the eternal authority is based on love. For example; Saul was blinded, and it humbled him. Was this not done to save Saul from himself? Was this not then an act of Love?
Justice that is based on the knowledge of good and evil, punishes, and creates consequence. It is very much the penalty fits the crime, another way of saying an eye for an eye. Human justice is also open to change. Where as the Truth is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
To take it further. Saul was the chosen hand of the authority of those under Law. Jesus was the chosen hand of the Authority of God. Saul persecuted, and terrorized the hearts of believers. Jesus raised his enemy up to be his among his chosen. This shows clearly the difference between the foundation of love and the foundation of sin.
Justice. Those who are called by Christ, are saved from great peril. Personally, I can attest to this. I am a wicked and dangerous person. I was chosen to suffer by Christ's authority, and attest to this great salvation. I, like Saul, am an example to you of what eternal justice means to the living. It is based in love. Because I am not wise, I continue to falter. But, because I am loved, my suffering then speaks to me of what I must overcome. In this context, eternal justice is mercy.
Because I repent, and seek to overcome myself for my love of God, I continue to grow and develop. This is not true of many believers. Most do not grow, and many return to their worldliness. This, because they believe that their knowledge of good and evil is enough. They are like Saul was, their idea of justice is founded on sin. There is no mercy, there is only consequence.
God is faithful. It is us who deny Him. And the justice we face for straying from Him, is a sufferance based in Love. Everything that happens is because it is the will of God. This is difficult to fathom. What is important to remember is when you remain faithful, there is no consequence. Eternal justice may leave you suffering, yes. But, that suffering is an opportunity to grow in faithfulness and humility.
As believers, we were bought at a great price. We are slaves to Christ, we serve his Authority without expectations, and with a healthy fear. Our master can make the poor rich, the rich power, the housed homeless, the homeless housed, the hungry full, and the full hungry. It is easy for the Lord to do these things, and just as easy for the Lord, on the day of death, to give back to a person according to his ways.

Quote from Sirach
26
In a day of prosperity, adversity is forgotten, in a day of adversity, prosperity is forgotten.
---
Justice is not meant to punish, it is meant to assist in conformity, in the renewing of the mind. Love does not persecute, or terrorize. Love is kind, and bears good fruit. Afterall, Saul became our Paul, who became the guidance of many.
