To be forgiven by the Father

Luke 27:47
and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

To repent is to feel, or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin. But what does repenting have to do with forgiveness of sin by the Lord?
---
"..He who repents must torture his own soul, and be exceedingly humble in all his conduct, and be afflicted with many kinds of affliction; and if he endure the afflictions that come upon him, He who created all things, and endued them with power, will assuredly have compassion, and will heal him."
---
Under grace we are shown our sin, and if we ask forgiveness in the fullness of faith, we are forgiven. In asking forgiveness, we are repenting what we have been shown by the grace upon us. To repent is to feel, or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin.

The repent we make must be sincere. We must go through severe and numerous trials to prove our sincerity, in order to be healed, and become pure. This is considered bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance. We prove our sincerity with acts that reconcile, that prove we understand what we did and what we must now observe going forward.
The healing is completed, and then we know we have been forgiven. It is an error to believe forgiveness is complete without repent or without also supplying acts that show our understanding has replaced our sinfulness with renewed confidence in what holiness can come through us. This could take a moment, an hour, a day, or years. The time of trial is subject to what is required to learn, our faith, and also our level of sincerity.

Luke 27:45-47
45
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
46
He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,

Grace was afforded by the blood of the Holy Lamb. Grace is when we are shown the sin we are in. The Holy Spirit is what is the light that is in a believer, and is the mind of Christ. You cannot repent what you do not know is sin. Without belief in Jesus, the sacrifice, the defeat of death, the ascension, and the presence of the Holy Spirit, there is no light, and sin goes without repent.
So faith in what is the gospel of Christ is the beginning of grace, and repent is the acknowledgement of grace, and bearing fruits worthy of repentance glorifies the Father through the grace His son supplied us.
Have confidence that forgiveness is full when repentance has run its course.

Forgiving others
We all come from darkness. And we all grow separately, bearing loads of understanding but only so much as we can handle. Growth is a progression. And because we are not perfect, we do not have the authority to expect repent, as we cannot offer perfect corrective measures that will supply wisdom.
---
1 Corinthians 10:13
13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
---
As you are in growth by the grace, you will begin to see the poverty you left behind in some around you. Whether they are believers or non believers, we are told not to judge. We are told this because you only know what is their sin because you have been shown it is sin by grace. And those who sin against you, have either not known it is sin, or, they have yet to repent and seek forgiveness from the Father.
---
Matthew 7:1-5
1
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
---
So we are called to forgive those who sin against us. This also is unique because likely their sin that you recognize, is symbolic of what you have repented, and forgiving them, is directly related to your forgiveness becoming full from the Father. Your forgiveness of them is very much a fruit worthy of repentance.
In this way, their sin against you becomes an opportunity to be blessed.
If instead you do not forgive them, but instead seek to condemn them with what you were shown is grace, you are harming their spirit, creating in them doubt that replaces their faith. That doubt will lead to anger, and that anger will lead to all kinds of violence. It is for you to be forgiving, which is loving.
---
Matthew 7:6
6
“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
---
It was a fear of God that led you to believe and it was a fear of God that led you to repent. But what you have received through grace is a wisdom meant for those who have that faith and have that fear of God. If you give what wisdom your learned to those who do not fear God, they will consider you as one who considers themselves greater than them. And you will be open to harm because of it.
There is more than one reason that we are commanded to be loving. Love covers a multitude of sins, and that includes keeping us from bringing others into sin.
The only time we share what wisdom we have acquired through the process of repenting, is when we are gathered with other believers. We do not tell individuals they are sinning, because that is again a form of judgement. The only form of correction that believers have amongst themselves is regarding teachings. We otherwise only serve to place guilt on a conscience that may in turn cause the soul to lose faith.
In summary, forgiveness is a constant for the believer. We go through the process of repentance and we forgive others out of love. We are all developing, and we all affect one another. So be loving; grow in the light, and be the actions of that light you carry forward.
