Psalm 35:4-9
4
May those who seek my life
be disgraced and put to shame;
may those who plot my ruin
be turned back in dismay.
5
May they be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lorddriving them away;
6
may their path be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lordpursuing them.
7
Since they hid their net for me without cause
and without cause dug a pit for me,
8
may ruin overtake them by surprise—
may the net they hid entangle them,
may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.
9
Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord
and delight in his salvation.

'Vengeance is mine', sayeth the Lord.
What David does not mention, is that we are to love our enemy, feed them, bear acts of holiness for them to witness in wonder. We are called to love. Share equally all we have, even if they take more than is offered. We are forgiving for love's sake. We do these things in hope that charity will speak volumes of the grace we live in, and act lile a beacon for them to walk towards.
If the love we share does not speak to their hearts and they remain closed, it acts like 'pouring hot coals on their heads'; in other words; guilt.
We do no supply ourselves a righteous stance. We do not use holy scripture on non believers, because words like truth and life and light have no meaning to them. We would in essence be sharing something alien to them.
But what all creatures respond to is love.
If you die being loving, you are truly honoring your master. And those whom abuse you, or persecute you, or condemn you to banishment or death, redicule or isolation, how will judgement treat them? Woe to the enemies of the Lord. Fear God.
'Vengeance is mine' sayeth the Lord.
"If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
---
So be loving of your enemy, sincerely, for their sake. Forgive them over amd over, turn the other cheek. *Whatever you have to do to make them understand that the love you are showing is greater than your own desire to react.* Amen
