Marriage

Marriage

A family would raise a son to an age of responsibility. When it was time, they would select a mate for him, and the son would in obedience take the woman, and they would pray together, and this would begin their bond. They would consummate this bond, and they were then considered married.

---

Ephesians 5:31
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

---

This bond was based on faith in God. Woman under man, man under God. As time went on temple priests and ceremonies were involved, and then the government was needed to certify the marriage. But it all started with obedience to parents, and the creation of a relationship that was recognized by God.

---

Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

---

Today, marriages see the same problems that were back then. Disobedience, marriages of convenience, divorces, and adultery. But today, marriages face these issues more often, as sin and wickedness has increased in the world. Marriage not based on a relationship with God, is a marriage based on worldliness.

---

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?

--

If a man does not put God first in his life, the woman he will attract, will be what he desires. She will know that he desires her, and that will be the foundation of her control in the relationship. If a woman does not put God first in her life, the man she will attract, will be what she desires. He will know what she desires him, and that will be the foundation of his control in the relationship.

Worldly marriage is based on money. Money is the basis of survival in today's world. A man is considered valuable to a woman based on his ability to supply and support her desires. A woman is considered valuable if she honors the man for his ability to supply and support her desires. This type of relationship makes money God. They celebrate or fear what money can do. They are obedient to it, and glorify it's power.

A godly marriage is based on the unseen qualities of God. Founded in love, the world seems cruel and costly. A man is considered valuable to a woman based on his ability to honor her and obey her in loving service. A woman is considered valuable if she honors the man for his ability ability to honor her and obey her in loving service. This type of relationship is based on a fear of God. They celebrate or fear what God can do. They are obedient to Him, and glorify His power.

Collosians 3:18,19
18
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

---

In a marriage where God is the center, women look to their husbands to guide them by faith. This is because a man answers to God. A woman answers to her man. Husbands answer to God. If a man is merciful with his woman, God will be merciful with him. Now, if a woman does not support her man, the man will stand before God with a heavy conscience. In his doubt, his prayers will be based on his reactions instead of his faith. And similarly, is a man is harsh with his woman, she will no longer have faith in God, as her man is an extension of God. The man will be judged harshly by God. It is important to keep God and the center of the marriage.

Should a man who loves God marry a women who doesn't know God?  Should a woman who loves God love a man who doesn't know God?
Can we serve two masters? Can oil and water combine? The answer is, love of God and love of the world do not find a balance. There is no honor for God, and the world will distract the faithful partner. No, there is no relationship that should stand between you and the Father.

The world makes marriage into a mockery. God makes marriage a union of two souls in the spirit. Marriage is not for everyone. It is a union that should not be undertaken unless God is the unity between them.
