A moral compass is solely defined by one's knowledge of good and evil. And with morality there will always be a division based on personal judgement. Morality, is not a function of truth, but instead, it is a function of incomplete knowledge, based on choices of the past, our reactions in the present, and our fear about the future.
The truth is the authority of life. Death does not acknowledge truth. Death is the path of least resistance, and every action made to deny death, is considered meaningful. But that does not honor the truth of life, instead it honors the power of death through recognition.

Ecclesiastes 8:14
14
There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

Morality has been developed by mankind. Yet it only honors the perishing form. If morality honored the soul, it would honor that which the soul came from. God is of the quality of spirit, unseen and eternal. If morality honored the spirit, it would not honor the perishing form. But morality does honor the perishing form. Morality itself, is a deceptive ignorance, a bias that is justified only by those who exist.
The truth set out from it, the laws of how to deal with sin. To put God first, not to kill, not to steal, not to covet, etc. Then the truth later manifested, and told us the reason we deny ourselves, is we act only based on choices of the past, our reactions in the present, and our fear about the future. Faith in the unseen qualities of God, shows truth to be the authority of love. And God is love. So we love because we were loved first. We do not kill, instead we turn the other cheek. We do not steal, instead we are charitable; treating others as we would have ourselves be treated. We do not covet, instead we seek the fruits of the kingdom to work through us to serve, instead of focussing on our desires for the tangible. The truth of love, is the life that is beyond the perishing form we reside in.
It is profound to say that it is better to love your enemy and forgive them, than it is to justify actions against them of in defense of their acts against you.

Romans 12:17

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.

I work with military veterans. Men, who were paid to justify a moral stance, by taking lives. Men who claim the prosperity of this nation and our safe home, as attributed to their actions. And they are correct. But what they do not recognize, is they took life to defend life, honoring the power of death. And the spoils of their sacrifice, are worldly and as perishable as they are. Not to mention that they set in motion generations who saw war as a means to an end- justifiable. For the men I work for, I pray for them to repent. Their morality blinded them, and their payments solidified their justification. Medals of honor and duty, that supply them with meaning in a meaningless existence.
I struggle with my toil, because I am sustaining myself to survive. Why? Why survive? Why fuel this meaningless existence with my effort? It is hypocritical, I know the truth, yet I continue to have meaning! I am a hypocrite! All I need to do is thank God for His Son, pray, fast, and die knowing I did my best to love. Everything else is moral lies. If I make money to be charitable, I am only supplying meaning to a system that supports the hierarchy. If I build an empire to create fairness and equality, I only serve to honor the world and the flesh. God does not need us. He did not need a Son. We needed His authority, and His Authority needed Him. A father does not need a son but a son needs a father.
The meaning if life is to understand our purpose. Our purpose is to return to a state of faithfulness in God. And our return is only possible through His Authority. Nothing we do here is of holy consequence. Everything we do in faith, in belief that the Holy Spirit can act through this perishing form to do the will of God, everything done in this faith is holy, and honors the Father by His kingdom he set upon us.
So what can we say? Continue to look for opportunities to do loving things. Pray for forgiveness knowing everything you do that is not based on faith is sin. Stop putting weight into your knowledge of good and evil because it is biased and will lead you astray. Seek to have the fruits of the Holy Spirit work through you in every circumstance. Make your meaningless existence shine of holy purpose.
